The very first sport to begin the
year is always Cross Country Running. Goulbourn has a fine tradition
of dedication in this field, and we are looking to continue.
The Annual Richard Kee run is traditionally held in October.
The whole school participates in this fun school event. Students
who place in the top ten of their category also qualify for
the team.

Board meet: October 22
It was cold, it was wet, and BOY was it muddy! Regardless, 42 soggy Cross Country runners braved the elements at the board meet on the rainy afternoon of Oct. 22. Some runners were unable to complete their races due to illness, but those who lost their shoes and finished the race in sock feet proved that Goulbourn kids have the heart of a greyhound!
Special congratulations go out to Robert D. who won a silver medal, to match his regional second place. Also of note was Pat S's 15 th place finish. Both grade 8 teams came in 4 th place overall, and the grade 7 girls also came in 4 th .
Way to go everyone who ran, to the parents who volunteered, and to the coaches who dedicated their time.
Regional meets: Oct 14 and 16
What an exciting time the Cross Country team had at their regional meet on October 14! Fifty-one runners braved the 3° temperature to give our school an Intermediate Aggregate Banner, meaning we had the top combined score of all the schools who participated. Two silver medals were won by the grade 8 boy and girl leaders, Robert D. and Kristine P.
The entire grade 8 girl's team won a first place banner, the boys' team came in second place, the grade 7 girls' team was a solid third, and the grade 7 boys narrowly missed qualifying for the board meet, coming in 4th.
The grade 6 cross-country team braved cold winds, stiff competition and cold and flu season at the Kanata Rec. Centre. Overall, the girls team finished 5th and the boys finished 4th. There were many amazing efforts and a number people who were competing despite feeling under the weather. Special recognition goes to Rosemary H. who finished 14th and Nik J. who finished 20th. Also, a huge thank you goes to all the parents for their support at the meet.
